At St Luke’s !
Burnt wood sculpture is now at St Luke’s where the original inspiration for burnt wood can be seen in the blackened remains of the roof structure which is beautifully preserved on the walls of the church. The sculpture is in celebration of the damage to the wood as it is changed by the burning process into a carbonised state that helps to preserve it from further decay, and in doing so creates a beautiful, delicate textured surface which gradually alters over time as it exposed to the elements. The piece invites viewers to contemplate the nature of impermanence. Read a review here and a poem here
